This family recipe is called the “Favorite Waffles” Recipe for a reason. It’s easy and you can make it as healthy or indulgent as you want. The basic recipe looks like this:
2 Cups Flour, 1 TBSPN Baking Power, 1/2 Cup Sugar, 1/4 Cup Oil, 2 Eggs, Waffle Iron
1/2 to 1 Cup of Milk (we use Almond Milk) — This amount depends on how many other items you add in
I also like to add in ground flax seed, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt and on my really healthy days, I’ll sub a little of the flour out for almond flour and also add in shaved coconut. On my not so healthy days, we’ll add in chocolate chips and melted cream cheese at the very end of mixing so that you get streaks of chocolate and cream cheese in the waffle. We use Avocado Oil but any oil will work. After mixing, follow instructions on your waffle iron machine. I also love caramelized apples (and so does the family) and they’re really easy to make. Simply cut an apple or pear into slices. Add in some agave nectar or honey (amount depends on how sweet you like things) and some cinnamon. Simmer until fruit is soft and juices have thickened.
